Actually! I’ve done a lot of research on this and with a diagnosis the previous Anon may qualify for a psychiatric service dog! Depression and anxiety can be helped with tasks such as deep pressure therapy for anxiety attacks or bad breakdowns, they can be trained to bring you your medication and interrupt destructive behaviors/self harming. But they will still need a strong support system if they are not capable of giving the dog the necessary care for health or financial reasons.

Thanks!

I am buying an ecollar for my dog for when we go to the woods to get an instant call back if we uncounted a predator like a wolf or coyote or if she chases after fowl or deer and she ignores my command, though she normally returns right away. The packaging says to not use it with metallic collars but to pair it with a collar or a harness. My dog pulls heavily on a harness until she runs out of breath so I’d prefer a collar so her tags are there if she doesn’t listen. What do you recommend?

An ecollar doesn’t guarantee a prompt return. If there are dangers in your area, I would keep her leashed. A vibrating collar could be a good off leash recall tool, they are often used for gun dogs, but they are…

I love your posts and I know that the answers to asks are opinions you’re entitled to, but positive only training has its drawbacks. I used to be someone who was only ever positive only, but use balance training now and both myself and my dog are better off for it! It can be harmful in some cases to suggest a positive only training method. The dog won’t stop if you simply ignore it (like with the nipping), and especially not if you praise it with food merely moments after. Just my two cents.

Hmm, i don’t think I said to praise the dog after ignoring it. I said to praise the dog for staying calm while people are running. I don’t only preach positive reinforcement, ignoring a dog is a form of negative…
