- If pit bulls are "prone to aggression", why were they used as babysitters back in the day? The very incorrect thought that they are "prone to aggression" is what made people rebel against them and treat them unfairly, which includes putting them to fight with each other, etc. Dogs are what you make of them, they are not born "prone to aggression" much like no one is born a violent human.
