If pit bulls are "prone to aggression", why were they used as babysitters back in the day? The very incorrect thought that they are "prone to aggression" is what made people rebel against them and treat them unfairly, which includes putting them to fight with each other, etc. Dogs are what you make of them, they are not born "prone to aggression" much like no one is born a violent human.

Ehh well pit bulls were never used as babysitters, the nanny dog thing is a myth. There was only one mention in history of nanny dogs, and that was in a book about Staffordshire Bull Terriers in 1971 describing their fondness for children. But neither staffy bulls, nor pit bulls, were ever used as babysitters.

Also, why are y’all not reading? Dog aggression and flat out aggression are two different things! I blatantly said that they are friendly dogs who are great with people. And they weren’t used as fighting dogs because of their stigma of being prone to dog aggression, the breed itself was created to fight.

And no, you cannot make a dog whatever you want it to be.
