I really really love bull terriers, but are they recommended for first time dog owners? Also, what are some ways to ensure they’re good bull terriers? I know that all the overbreeding/inbreeding resulted in a lot of seriously unhealthy bull terriers but there have to be some good breeders out there, right?

English Bull Terriers are not a good first time dog. Unfortunately they are hard to train! Temperament-wise they are great family dogs, fun and active, they just need to be socialized early to be dog friendly. Pure whites are prone to being deaf, but even a small percentage of colored ebts can be deaf, too. They need to be screened as puppies, which sometimes can be difficult. I think they’re cute, I wanted a mini for a short while, but it’s not that they require lots of exercise or grooming – they just don’t listen!

Now last time I mentioned Bull Terriers.. People were like, “My Staffie is wonderful, you’re wrong!!” >_> The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, which is not the same breed, is a much easier dog to handle. They are very friendly, easier to train, but pack a lot of muscle. But they are not Bull Terriers.
