Is there a difference between the 1-year and 3-year rabies shot? My dog went to the vet this morning for his annual and he is now of age to receive and be given a tag for the 3-year, but my vet didn’t give me the option. My other dog received a 3-year from our previous vet.

As far as I know, there isn’t a difference in the shot itself except the guaranteed length of immunity. Here in Canada, I know a lot of vets opt to use the 1 year rabies vaccine to ensure people bring their dogs back once a year for their other vaccines or preventatives. You could always ask your vet why they chose the 1-year vaccine, and ask that you get the 3-year one next time.
