Can you explain to me why people seem to be so obsessed with dog breeds? Selectively breeding, especially for as long as dogs have been around, results in /so much/ inbreeding, which of course leads to so many genetic diseases and deformities. See: pugs. So why did people to continue to support and perpetuate a system like that?
Well, no, I cannot explain why people do what they do. But, I believe kennel clubs have much to do about it. For example: a Pug’s AKC breed standard calls for a slight underbite and a short, blunt muzzle, while…
